Turkey has secured the championship title at the fifth International Naval Competition hosted by the Pakistan Navy, winning three gold medals and finishing ahead of runner-up Iran. The event was held in the southern port city of Karachi, according to an official statement released on Thursday (13 November).
Organized by the Pakistan Navy, the competition featured a diverse range of maritime sporting events, including sailing, swimming, lifesaving techniques, and naval seamanship. The event brought together participants from ten countries, strengthening professional ties and fostering healthy naval sportsmanship.
According to the Pakistan Navy’s statement, teams from Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Sri Lanka, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates took part in this year’s edition. The organizers highlighted that the primary objective of the competition is to promote maritime sports in Pakistan while enhancing friendly rivalry and cooperation among regional navies.
The award ceremony was attended by senior naval officials, foreign military representatives, and numerous civilians. Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi, Commander Karachi, presided over the event as the chief guest. He distributed awards among the winners, congratulated the champion teams, and encouraged all participants to continue striving for professional excellence.
The event also served as an opportunity for the Pakistan Navy to showcase its commitment to regional maritime collaboration and sports diplomacy.
