Trial Verdict of “Fascist Sheikh Hasina” to Be Announced Next Week: Information Adviser Mahfuz Alam

Information and Broadcasting Ministry Adviser Md. Mahfuz Alam has declared that the verdict in the trial of what he described as “fascist killer Sheikh Hasina” will be announced next week. He stated that this long-awaited judgment would bring solace to the families of those who were martyred, saying, “Their pain will finally find some relief. Many of the trial proceedings are ongoing at the International Crimes Tribunal. Those who have killed, abducted, and disappeared our students and citizens — all of them will face justice.”

He made these remarks on Tuesday (November 4) at 11:30 a.m. during an exchange of views with government officials and local leaders in Ramganj upazila.

At the “Samskar Prangan” event, Mahfuz Alam further said, “The interim government has made significant progress. We are signing the July Charter, which is a great achievement for Bangladesh. The country is now moving into a new phase.”

He added, “We have overthrown Sheikh Hasina’s autocratic regime and formed a new government. The ongoing July Charter and the activities of this interim administration will set a foundation so that the next elected government can continue the reforms and institutional work. Only then will we have the Bangladesh we always dreamed of — one that ensures justice, the rule of law, and balance of power. Enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings will no longer return.”

Before the meeting, Adviser Mahfuz Alam was given a Guard of Honour by the upazila administration in the Upazila Parishad compound. He was greeted with flowers by District Commissioner Rajib Kumar Sarkar and Superintendent of Police Md. Akhter Hossain.

Also present at the event were Ramganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Robin Shish, Officer-in-Charge Abdul Bari, Mahfuz Alam’s father Azizur Rahman Bacchu Molla (General Secretary of Ichapur Union BNP), and his brother Mahbub Alam, Joint Convener of the National Citizens’ Party, among others.

Earlier at 10:30 a.m., Adviser Mahfuz Alam attended an agricultural incentive distribution ceremony organized by the upazila administration for poor farmers. Later, he met with families of the July martyrs and at 1 p.m. joined a memorial event marking the ninth death anniversary of former MP and State Minister Ziaul Haque Zia.
