No Power Can Dominate Bangladesh: Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman Warns Against Foreign Influence

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, has said that no foreign or domestic power will be allowed to dictate or dominate Bangladesh’s political future. He stated firmly, “We fear none except Allah Almighty. We respect all peace-loving nations of the world, but we will not tolerate anyone trying to impose their will on us. Bangladesh will be governed according to Allah’s guidance and the will of its people—not according to the preferences of any external power.”

He made these remarks on Saturday (6 December) while addressing a large divisional rally organized by eight Islamic and like-minded parties at Sylhet’s Aliya Madrasa field.

“People Have Awakened—Fear Tactics Will No Longer Work”

The Jamaat Ameer said that ordinary citizens across the country—on roads, markets, villages, and towns—are expressing strong desire for change and political freedom.
According to him:

“The people themselves are indicating whom they will vote for in the coming days. Yet some keep warning us about the so-called power of different foreign nations. But Islamic and patriotic activists are not afraid of anything except Allah. Those who think they can intimidate us with threats do not understand our spirit.”

He criticized politicians who rely on foreign support instead of public trust, saying:
“Those who act as agents of others will never succeed. Look at those who once served foreign masters—their downfall should be a lesson for all.”

“Fascists May Have Fled, But the Shadow of Fascism Still Remains”

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman alleged that although one group responsible for oppressive politics has escaped the country, another group continues the same pattern of abuse and exploitation.

He said:
“One faction carried out oppression and then escaped, while another has taken over their role with even more force. Ch extortion, land grabbing, political persecution—these crimes have continued from one group’s hands to another’s.”

He added that the trend of filing false cases, harassing opposition leaders, ulema, and ordinary citizens, and forcing critics into exile is still happening today.

“People Expected Reform, But Old Politics Still Dominates”

The Jamaat Ameer said that after years of bloodshed, imprisonment, and sacrifice, citizens hoped for a new political culture.
But their expectations were not fulfilled.

He remarked:
“People expected that after witnessing the consequences of past mistakes, politicians would start a new chapter. But unfortunately, we see the same old authoritarian mindset. Some resisted reforms, resisted the implementation of the mandate, even resisted the idea of a referendum. But eventually they were forced to accept it.”

He added that some political actors who had been shouting for elections for years are now suddenly speaking in a different tone.
“This is not a good sign,” he warned.

“Attempts to Disrupt the Upcoming Election Will Be Defeated”

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said the people are fully prepared to show the “red card” to those who engage in manipulation and corruption.
He issued a stern warning:

“If anyone attempts to sabotage the upcoming election, the brave people of this country will thwart every conspiracy. And if anyone dreams of hijacking election results through administrative coups or undemocratic tactics—let me make it clear: that era is over. The black sun of tyranny will never rise again in Bangladesh. A new sun will rise.”

Appeal to Islamic Parties: “Return to Your Own Home”

Addressing Islamic parties outside the alliance, he called for unity:
“My dear brothers, those of you who are wandering in places that are not your political home—please come back. This arena is your rightful home. You do not belong where you currently stand. Return to us. We will embrace you warmly, InshaAllah.”

Summary

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman’s speech centered on several major themes:

  1. Rejection of any foreign or domestic dominance over Bangladesh’s politics
  2. Warning against election manipulation or sabotage
  3. Criticism of both past and present authoritarian practices
  4. A call for unity among Islamic political groups
  5. A broader message that the people of Bangladesh are awakened and ready for political transformation
