Alleged Romantic Relationship Between Nvidia CEO and Chinese Spy Triggers US Congressional Investigation

A major controversy has emerged in the United States following allegations that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had a romantic relationship with a woman suspected of working for China’s intelligence agency. According to reports citing US intelligence officials, the woman allegedly attempted to obtain sensitive information from Huang by developing a close personal relationship with him. The allegations have raised serious concerns within US political and intelligence circles, prompting lawmakers to consider a formal congressional investigation.

According to reports published by several prominent international media outlets, US intelligence officials prepared a classified memorandum earlier this year based on intelligence assessments. The document reportedly identified Alice Huang, an executive at Singapore-based technology company Megaspeed, as a suspected Chinese intelligence operative who had developed a close relationship with Jensen Huang.

Megaspeed is reportedly a customer of Nvidia, one of the world’s most influential semiconductor companies.

The confidential memorandum was reportedly shared with senior US officials ahead of President Donald Trump’s planned diplomatic engagement with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Alleged Chinese Intelligence Operation

According to The New York Times, Alice Huang was allegedly working for China’s Ministry of State Security. Her suspected assignment was to gather information about advanced semiconductor technology used in American artificial intelligence systems.

The report also suggested that Chinese intelligence officials may have attempted to influence Nvidia’s position on selling its most advanced semiconductor products to China.

Meanwhile, a report published by the Financial Times stated that US officials believed Jensen Huang had been involved in a romantic relationship with Alice Huang.

However, the precise circumstances of their introduction and the nature of their alleged relationship have not been independently established.

US Congress Considers a Bipartisan Investigation

The allegations have raised concerns about potential national security risks, particularly because Nvidia plays a central role in supplying advanced chips used in artificial intelligence development.

Democratic Senator Chris Coons of Delaware, who is expected to assume the chairmanship of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in January, has announced plans for a comprehensive congressional investigation.

In a statement on social media platform X, Coons described the controversy in terms of alleged close connections involving the Trump administration, Chinese intelligence operatives and influential AI billionaires.

He indicated that Congress would investigate the matter and demand answers from those involved.

Meanwhile, Republican leaders of the House committees dealing with China, foreign affairs and intelligence have reportedly directed Jensen Huang to appear for a closed-door briefing by November 11.

The lawmakers want to determine whether the allegations involve any compromise of US national security or access to sensitive technological information.

Nvidia and China Reject the Allegations

Nvidia and Jensen Huang have strongly rejected the allegations.

According to the company’s response, Huang’s interactions with Alice Huang were entirely professional and business-related. The company explained that its CEO meets thousands of customers, business executives and industry representatives every year as part of his professional responsibilities.

Nvidia also maintained that no sensitive information was exchanged and that there was no evidence of wrongdoing.

The Chinese government has similarly rejected the allegations, describing them as politically motivated fabrications.

Alice Huang could not immediately be reached for comment.

Nvidia’s China Business Already Under US Scrutiny

The controversy comes at a time when Nvidia’s business relationship with China is already facing intense scrutiny from Washington.

Megaspeed was reportedly established in 2023 after separating from a Chinese gaming company. US authorities have been investigating suspected networks involved in illegally transferring advanced semiconductor chips to Chinese companies through Southeast Asian businesses.

Nvidia previously conducted its own internal investigation into related concerns and said it found no evidence of wrongdoing.

The question of whether Nvidia should be permitted to sell advanced AI chips to China has also created disagreements within the Trump administration.

Despite US export restrictions, reports have repeatedly raised concerns that advanced Nvidia chips are still reaching Chinese companies through various channels.

Dispute Over H200 Chip Exports

US national security officials have reportedly expressed frustration over Jensen Huang’s efforts to persuade the Trump administration to permit additional chip exports to China.

Earlier this year, Huang personally lobbied President Donald Trump for permission to export Nvidia’s H200 artificial intelligence chips to the Chinese market.

Since beginning his second presidential term in 2025, Trump has held several meetings with Huang.

The latest allegations have therefore added another dimension to the ongoing debate over America’s technological competition with China.

A Matter Beyond Personal Relationships

The controversy surrounding Jensen Huang is no longer simply a question about the personal relationships of a prominent technology executive.

It raises broader questions about corporate security, industrial espionage, artificial intelligence leadership, semiconductor exports and the growing technological rivalry between Washington and Beijing.

Nvidia’s chips are considered essential to the development of advanced AI systems worldwide. Any credible evidence that sensitive technological information has been compromised could therefore have significant implications for US national security and the global semiconductor industry.

However, the allegations have not yet been independently established, and both Nvidia and the Chinese government have denied wrongdoing.

The outcome of the proposed congressional investigation may determine whether the controversy develops into a wider national security issue involving one of the world’s most influential technology companies.
