Air Ambulance Ready for Khaleda Zia if Needed

Begum Khaleda Zia is currently under intensive observation in the ICU of Evercare Hospital. Arrangements have been made with several hospitals abroad, and an air ambulance is ready to transport her if her condition requires treatment outside the country.

This information was disclosed on Saturday, 29 November, by BNP Vice-Chairman Ahmed Azam Khan during a briefing with journalists. He confirmed that all preparations have been made for Khaleda Zia’s possible medical transfer abroad.

Khaleda Zia, nearly 80 years old, was admitted to the hospital on 23 November after developing a lung infection coupled with complications in her heart. She has been suffering from multiple complex health issues for a long time. Currently, a medical board, including both local and foreign specialists, is overseeing her treatment in the ICU. Leaders from BNP and various other political parties visit the hospital daily to check on her condition.

Earlier today, former DU AGS and BNP leader Nazimuddin Alam visited Khaleda Zia in the hospital. After leaving, he requested prayers from everyone. BNP Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon stated that her condition remains unchanged, and any decision regarding treatment abroad will be made by the medical board.

Prior to this, a three-member delegation from the National Citizens Party visited the hospital to inquire about her health. Dr. Tasnim Zara, on behalf of the delegation, reported that although her condition has slightly deteriorated, Khaleda Zia remains conscious and aware, and she is able to understand the doctors’ instructions.

News of her deteriorating health has drawn concern from the highest levels of government. President Md. Sahabuddin expressed deep concern and requested prayers from the nation. Earlier, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus also expressed similar concern, regularly monitoring her treatment progress and instructing all necessary support. On Friday night, acting on the Chief Adviser’s instructions, legal adviser Asif Nazrul and special assistant Monir Haidar visited the hospital to oversee her care.
