Pakistani Woman Alleges Husband Preparing Second Marriage in India, Appeals to PM Modi via Video Message

A Pakistani woman has alleged that her India-origin husband, Vikram Nagdev, left her stranded in Karachi while secretly preparing for a second marriage in Delhi. The woman, identified as Nikita Nagdev, has sent a video message directly to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking justice in her case.

The video has sparked widespread reactions across social and legal circles in both India and Pakistan.

Marriage Background and Husband’s Conduct

According to Nikita, she married Vikram Nagdev in Karachi on 26 January 2020 following Hindu customs. Although Vikram is of Indian origin, he resided in Indore, India on a long-term visa. A month after their marriage, he brought Nikita to India, but on 9 July 2020, citing a “visa technical issue,” he forcibly sent her back to Pakistan at the Attari border. Nikita claims that since then, Vikram has taken no initiative to bring her back to India.

In her video message, Nikita stated,
“I have repeatedly requested him to call me to India, but he always sent me back. If I do not get justice today, women will lose faith in the judicial system.”

Husband’s Infidelity and Family Pressure

Nikita further alleges that her in-laws’ attitude changed once she returned to India from Pakistan. She discovered that Vikram was involved with a relative from his family. When she informed her father-in-law, he dismissed the matter, saying, “Boys behave like this.”

She also claims that during the COVID-19 lockdown, Vikram forced her back to Pakistan and is currently preventing her from entering India. Upon returning to Karachi, she learned that Vikram is preparing for a second marriage in Delhi with another woman.

Legal Action Taken

On 25 January 2025, Nikita filed a formal complaint. The matter was referred to the Sindhi Panch Mediation and Legal Advice Center, approved by the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Notices were issued to Vikram and his alleged fiancée, and hearings were conducted.

However, when mediation failed, the center’s report on 25 April 2025 stated that this case falls under Pakistan’s jurisdiction, recommending that Vikram be sent back to Pakistan.

Previously, the case was also brought before the Indore Social Panchayat, which recommended Vikram’s expulsion. Indore Collector Ashish Singh has stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken once the report is received.
